From commissioning engineer to sales manager
Andreas Renetzeder has been an integral part of Scheuch for over 28 years. In 1996, he began with us as an electro-technical commissioning engineer - at that time, Scheuch was a comparatively small company with 360 employees, compared with today's workforce of over 1500 people.
"I can still remember my first day vividly", he explains. Today, he can look back on an impressive career which has taken him from Austria, to all over the world.
What was your professional background like before you joined us?
After my training as an electrician, I graduated from the technical college for industrial electronics in Linz and also qualified as a PLC technician. I was able to use this knowledge at my previous employer and later as a commissioning engineer for industrial plants - that's how I had my first contact with Scheuch.
What positions have you held within the company?
I started in 1996 in electrical commissioning, which was a very small department with just two colleagues at the time. With the cement boom and the increasing complexity of our plants, I specialized in process engineering commissioning and looked after customers worldwide. In 2006, I switched to plant engineering, where I was responsible for the technical design of plants and troubleshooting. I have been working as an Area Sales Manager since 2011, looking after regions such as Central Asia, South East Asia and Africa.
Which projects or successes do you particularly remember?
One highlight was the sale of an e-filter conversion with an air capacity of 2,000,000 Am³/h in Thailand - our largest project in this area to date. I am also particularly proud to have opened up new markets such as Pakistan and Ghana for Scheuch. These successes show how strong our team is.
Were there any challenges that were particularly demanding for you?
One of the biggest challenges was putting a filter system back into operation overnight under enormous time pressure in order to ensure the start of production at a plant with 1,000 employees. Extreme climatic conditions - from -48°C in Russia to +52°C in Africa - are also among the challenges I have experienced on customer visits.
What drives you in your work and how do you see your professional future?
What drives me is the opportunity to create real added value for our customers with our solutions. I particularly enjoy selling not just a product, but a customized solution that convinces the customer - and ultimately leads to an order. Successes like this motivate me to give my best time and time again.
For my professional future, I see great potential to further establish Scheuch in new markets such as Central Asia, Southeast Asia, Australia and Africa. My goal is to position our innovative technologies for exhaust gas purification and filtration even more broadly and to win new customers for us. I appreciate the trust that Scheuch has placed in me by allowing me to travel almost the entire world and immerse myself in other countries and cultures. This experience is a great enrichment not only professionally but also personally.
Finally: How do you balance your work?
In my free time, I enjoy being active in Austria's nature - be it cycling, skiing or sailing. This helps me to maintain a balance between work and leisure.
